Common Sense Parenting® (CSP) is a practical, skill-based parenting program that can be applied to every family.

The program’s logical strategies and easy-to-learn techniques address issues of communication, discipline, decision making, relationships, self-control and school success. These classes incorporate proven methods that were researched and developed at Boys Town, and are used in all Boys Town youth care programs.

CSP gives parents the tools to:

  • Correct and change problem behavior

  • Minimize problems that disrupt family life

  • Raise responsible, caring children

CSP offers training for parents who want to build on their existing skills or learn new ways of dealing with their children’s difficult behaviors. Workshops allow parents to learn, practice and demonstrate new parenting skills. These skills will enable them to learn to nurture their children's development and combine affection and discipline to decrease their children's negative behaviors and increase their positive behaviors. Professionally trained parent trainers teach the course and provide instruction, consultation and support.

CSP classes help parents:

  • Reduce children’s problem behavior

  • Improve parent and family satisfaction

  • Build strong, healthy relationships
